The question of whether migrants can be turned away at Germany's borders has entered the general political discourse. The issue is being hotly debated, particularly in the Free State of Saxony, but also in other federal states. The debate ranges from the question of whether Germany's borders within the EU are actually borders at all to the question of what role EU law plays and should play in relation to German law.
About the speaker:
Hansjörg Michael Huber (born in Cologne in 1960) is a German lawyer and university lecturer at Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences. He is a professor of constitutional and administrative law and was a member of the board of trustees of the Desiderius Erasmus Foundation, which has close ties to the AfD. He was also a deputy member of the German Parliament's G10 Commission and is active in local politics in the district of Görlitz.
