Online seminar on freedom of expression, its guarantees, its limits and current attempts to restrict it

The development of language marks a decisive milestone in human history. Language enabled our ancestors to pass on knowledge and form closer social bonds. The ability to share experiences and plan collectively not only allowed humans to hunt and gather more efficiently, but also to later build culture and civilisation.
This makes it all the more inexplicable that many people today treat what sets them apart, namely the phenomenal expressive possibilities of language, so negligently. Just take a look at the often meaningless babble on Facebook. Or the comments under YouTube videos.

Let's take a look at the bastion of learning, the school. From the everyday life of a comprehensive school somewhere in Germany – let's say in Castrop-Rauxel: 5th period, class 8a, social studies. Teacher Peter Friedel enters the classroom. 19 of the 26 students are present. „Good morning, everyone. I have corrected your essays. It was remarkable. I've never seen anything like it in 20 years of teaching. Six pupils apparently didn't feel the need to hand in an essay at all. Of the 20 that were handed in, 16 are practically identical in substance. Does anyone have an explanation for this?“ Collective silence in the hall.

Artificial intelligence (AI) has made enormous progress in recent years and has found its way into many areas of our lives. In everyday working life in particular, AI, especially ChatGPT, can take on a variety of tasks and thus make everyday work easier. In this article, we show how AI can be used in various professional fields and how even „newbies“ can benefit from its advantages. We look at both the theoretical basics and practical examples.

On 5 March 2024, we published an article highlighting how Chinese automotive companies are preparing to flood the global market with electric cars. New transport ships are even being built specifically for this purpose. The giant car manufacturer BYD alone plans to send 200 car carriers, each with a loading capacity of at least 3,000 vehicles, across the world's oceans, each over 200 metres long. Each trip takes about 100 days, plus loading and unloading. All ships therefore make about three trips per year. 200 x 3,000 x 3 = 1,800,000 cars. Taking into account that there are also significantly larger ships with a capacity of up to 8,000 cars, we will assume 2 million cars per year for the sake of simplicity. There are only two markets that could absorb this volume: the US and Europe.

It wasn't long ago that the American company OpenAI released the newer version ChatGPT-4. A few weeks, perhaps. Now, on 13 May 2024, there was another update: ChatGPT-4o. The o stands for omni, meaning whole, every, everything. This update is available free of charge to all users who already use the paid version ChatGPT-4. So the price remains at 20 US-$ + 19 % VAT per month, currently just under £22. And this update is amazing! Be sure to read on if you are interested in using the AI application.

It is clear to any politically astute observer that our country is undergoing fundamental change as a result of the federal government's traffic light coalition. This goal is being pursued ruthlessly at the expense of damaging our economic and cultural foundations and the harmonious coexistence of our people. Indeed, it is being pursued even at the cost of destroying our democracy. As a political foundation and as committed democrats, we are following with considerable concern the de-democratisation of our country, which is being accompanied by a lavishly state-funded left-wing spectrum of opinion.

If you always go on holiday to Lake Tegernsee, Cuxhaven or Styria, you can skip this instalment of our series on artificial intelligence. We wanted to ask ChatGPT how it can help overcome foreign language barriers when travelling abroad. Are you familiar with this situation? You are abroad, perhaps at a market. You want to ask something. But you can't remember the words. ChatGPT can help:
