How can we create a new economic miracle?

web seminar
Date: Tuesday, 8 April 2025

Time: 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.

Speaker: Prof. Emeritus Dr Ulrich van Suntum

After three years of coalition politics, the German economy is in tatters and the new government faces a mammoth task.

Minor corrections and minor reforms will no longer suffice. Rather, we need a complete fresh start, similar to the „economic miracle“ initiated by Ludwig Erhard at the time.

Milei has demonstrated in Argentina that such a thing is still possible in the 21st century.

This webinar will focus on what specifically needs to happen in Germany and the EU.

Newsletter No. 32 – 31 March 2025: On the Constitutional Court ruling of 27 March 2025

Dear members, friends and supporters of our foundation,

In 2023, the Federal Constitutional Court (BVerfG) ruled that the Federal Government and the Bundestag had unlawfully denied the Desiderius Erasmus Foundation funding for 2019. The court clearly stated that the AfD's right to equal opportunities in political competition under Article 21 of the Basic Law had been violated.

Accordingly, we have called on the federal government to pay the funds that were unlawfully withheld from us. At the time, the ruling noted that the court assumed that the federal government would act accordingly.

Values or interests? – Political moralism in German foreign policy

lecture evening

Date: Wednesday, 26 March 2025
Time: 6:30 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. (doors open at 6:00 p.m.)
Location: Munich
Speaker: Prof. Fritz Söllner, Doctor of Political Science

For many German politicians, pursuing national interests is considered indecent and immoral, if not outright denying their existence. Today, values have replaced these frowned-upon interests. They are at the heart of German politics. Speeches and government statements repeatedly refer to »our values« or »shared values« that must be defended and upheld. This fixation on values is also evident in German foreign policy, which no longer follows the motto »live and let live«; instead, the world is to be healed by the German (or European) way of life ...

Newsletter No. 31: AfD election success despite massive headwinds

Dear members, friends and supporters of our foundation,

The AfD has achieved a very impressive election result. As the political foundation closely associated with the party, we are naturally delighted about this. This election result is not a matter of course. It requires thorough analysis.

As a democratic foundation, we have had to observe in recent months and even years that in Germany – not in some banana republic – the AfD's self-evident parliamentary rights as an opposition party have been trampled underfoot. We have had to observe that the federal government has not only provided financial support for mass demonstrations and smear campaigns against the AfD, but that members of the government have repeatedly participated in them. All of this contradicts the fundamentals of a parliamentary democracy.

We won't let ourselves get down in 2025 either!

Dear readers,
Our Desiderius Erasmus Foundation is still being denied the funding it is entitled to from the federal government. Despite the ruling of the Federal Constitutional Court in 2023, according to which we have been entitled to this funding since 2019, we have not received a single euro. Democracy and the rule of law are increasingly being eroded.
If Hungary or Poland were to treat legitimate opposition forces in this way, there would be a huge outcry, particularly in Germany. However, we will not be deterred by this and will continue to carry out our work on a voluntary basis.

Thoughtful reflections and Christmas greetings

Dear members, friends and supporters of our foundation,

As a political foundation, we have also set ourselves the task of promoting democracy and providing political education. Some people think that this is unnecessary in Germany, that it is like carrying coals to Newcastle. Not at all! It is becoming increasingly clear that we now live in a deficient democracy. What is disturbing is that the federal government is not counteracting this, but rather that the initial spark for the destruction of democracy is coming from there. It is clear to any politically aware observer that the democratic substance of our country is fundamentally under threat. There is a discernible objective that is being ruthlessly pursued at the expense not only of our economic and cultural foundations and the harmonious coexistence of our people, but even at the expense of the destruction of our democracy.
