How capable is the German Armed Forces of defending itself?
Web seminar:
Date: Thursday, 19 September 2024
Time: 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
Speaker: Walter A. Schwaebsch
The war of attrition in Ukraine is continuing with massive support from Western countries and increasing involvement from military advisers and trainers. With the delivery of long-range weapon systems, including German ones, Ukrainian troops are now able to attack Russian territory. This means that as the war spreads, the risks to Germany's security are increasing.
The presentation highlights the escalation, analyses the current state of the German armed forces and assesses both military and civil defence capabilities. The striking discrepancy between the target and the actual situation, between the aspirations and the reality of Germany's defence potential, is hardly known to the public and contributes to a false picture of the explosive situation. The presentation of possible threat scenarios is intended to provide indications of the potential dangers that Germany may face if the war in Eastern Europe continues and intensifies.
Walter A. Schwaebsch As a reserve officer, he has decades of experience in the paratrooper corps and in the field of strategic reconnaissance. As a member of the Reservists' Association and several soldiers' associations and comradeships, he attends Bundeswehr events several times a year, which enables him to make a realistic assessment of the current situation. He gained knowledge of the region through professional assignments and military history excursions in Russia, Ukraine and Crimea.
The conference fee is €15.
