Newsletter No. 22 in December 2021 – End-of-year letter 2021

Dear members, trustees, friends and supporters of our foundation,

At the end of a year marked by both movement and permanent standstill, I would like to express my sincere thanks for the constructive recommendations, wise advice and, of course, the urgently needed financial support from the Desiderius Erasmus Foundation.

With a great deal of imagination and creativity, the board has steered the foundation not only through the coronavirus pandemic, but also through waves of attacks from organisations, media outlets and left-wing politicians who are hostile to our work.

In recent months, the left and extreme left have unleashed a torrent of lies and defamation against our foundation that is unparalleled. There are quite a few forces in Germany that want to use all means necessary to prevent our conservative, civic foundation from receiving the public funds it is entitled to. They act entirely in the spirit of Herbert Marcuse, who called for intolerance towards anyone who is not left-wing.

If everything proceeds according to law, the Desiderius Erasmus Foundation will be eligible for federal funding from 2022 onwards. In any case, negotiations on this matter will drag on until the end of the first quarter of 2022 due to the recent federal elections.

At present, it is not yet clear how the federal government and the political parties supporting it will respond.

The year 2022 will be exciting and challenging for our foundation. Either way.

We will need your support next year as well, or perhaps even more so. The first seminars for January and February can already be booked via our website. Please join us. At the same time, I naturally hope, as I'm sure you do, that we will soon be able to hold events with face-to-face meetings again. Nothing beats personal, human interaction.

Despite the difficult circumstances, I wish you all a peaceful and reflective Christmas from the bottom of my heart.

Kind regards

Yours
Erika Steinbach
