Dear members, friends and supporters of our foundation,
Due to many enquiries, I would like to inform you about the current status of state funding for DES.
Since the federal election in February 2025, it has been clear that the DES will finally be entitled to the long illegally delayed state funding from 1 January 2026. We have complied with the deadlines stipulated by law in the Lex-DES Act, as it must be called, and we naturally fulfil all legal requirements.
It seems almost impossible in a constitutional state, but to this day we have not received the funding commitment and certainly not the state funding to which we have been entitled since 1 January under the Foundation Financing Act.
There has been almost a year since the general election to review the DES with regard to the flexible requirements.
It was only on 11 December - shortly before Christmas - that the Federal Ministry of the Interior (BMI) requested information from our foundation in an extensive catalogue of questions.
This includes all annual financial statements and annual reports since the foundation was established in 2017, the names, places and dates of birth and places of residence of all 60 members of the supporting association and a list of all our events in 2024/2025, the names of all donors in 2024/25 who have donated more than €10,000, as well as their places and dates of birth and, of course, our statutes. In addition, the 2026 event planning and organisational units.
The deadline was 9 January 2026, and we delivered the extraordinarily comprehensive report of more than 30 pages on 20 December.
There has been no response to this to date!
As our foundation meets all the requirements, lawyer Dr Ulrich Vosgerau took our interests into his own hands vis-à-vis the Federal Ministry of the Interior on 2 February 2026 and set a deadline of 27 February 2026.
Irrespective of this remarkably harassing behaviour, we at DES have already organised various events for the first few weeks of the year.
I look forward to friendly encounters and continue to hope for your helpful support. Because we will certainly need it.
With warm regards
Erika Steinbach
